Meet The Team: Katja Broadbent, keeping you feeling good inside and out.

Katja and her beautiful smile, with some marigolds

Name: Katja Broadbent

Role:

Health & Wellbeing Practitioners and Traders Co-ordinator

How did you get involved?

Last year I was interested in offering a workshop to teach the ‘Daily Energy Routine’, and in being able to offer taster sessions in Eden Energy Medicine. However, there was no one on the committee with a role that would help them to make that possible, so I volunteered to co ordinate the Health and Wellbeing Practitioners this year.

What were the highlights of 2024 or 2025 for you?

I think my favourite parts were the performances by Quickbeam and the ceilidh with the Wierdstring Band. Plus bits and bobs of dancing to the fiddle. I love that Cumberlandia is a place where you can dance even when no one else is dancing. I also loved singing with the Cumberlandia Choir and joining in with the art workshops.

What are you looking forward to for 2026?

I am looking forward to seeing everyone enjoy the very excellent foods that will be on offer: we are privileged to have a range of foods provided by Rin Tin Thai and the Binsey Field Kitchen with their VERY locally sourced ingredients (such as Torpenhow cheese). I’m also looking forward to the Ceilidh with Slip the Jig, discovering a range of new musicians that I haven’t heard before, and having a Health and Wellbeing Practitioners Stall in the teepee where we can talk to people (and each other) about health issues and simple things we can do to improve our own health and wellbeing. We’re going to have a range of people who work with health – from the fantastic physio – Tash Barnes, the superb Shiatsu practitioner, Nikki Wingfield, restful Reiki practitioner, Karen Whybrow, and more. I look forward to introducing people to Eden Energy Medicine which blends simple techniques of hands on energy healing which you can do yourself, with simple exercises to support your body and energy system with whatever you are going through. There are some interesting crossovers between EEM and Shiatsu, and between physiotherapy and Kinetic Chain Release (which I also offer) so I’m really looking forward to spending some time discussing what works when, and why with my peers!

Any top tips for this year's visitors?

Try a range of activities. Everyone is so welcoming and supportive, it’s a great opportunity to do things that you ordinarily might not.

What should people absolutely not miss?

The ceilidh.

One thing people should bring with them?

A flared skirt for dancing! Or, if not, light layers and a waterproof.

Anything else you'd like to add?

Come and try out the Qi Gong, or the Eden Energy Routine and come for a chat! No-one is trying to sell you anything; we’ll just be around to answer questions from the public and each other. I’m really looking forward to it.
