Frequently Asked Questions
What will happen when I arrive?
On arrival, you will see two large sets of metal gates. The one on the right will have a sign that says ‘Welcome to Cumberlandia’ and two stewards. If you are in a vehicle wait here until the stewards have greeted you. There may be a queue, in which case please be patient; we are doing the best we can to get everyone on site as quickly and safely as possible.
The Main Gate stewards will need to see your eventbrite ticket, either on your phone or printed out, so please have this ready. If you do not have a ticket already, you will be asked to pull your vehicle to one side and purchase one online via the eventbrite website to gain access to the festival.
Once you have shown your ticket, the stewards will advise you when it is safe to continue up the drive to the Ticket Office to exchange your ticket for a festival wristband. Be aware that a one-way system is in operation around the site, so you may have to wait if another vehicle is exiting.
If you are on foot, the stewards will check your ticket and advise you when it is safe to proceed to the Ticket Office to exchange your ticket for a festival wristband.
At the Ticket Office, the stewards will check your name against their list and give you your wristband. Please put it on immediately - this is your ticket!
The Parking stewards will then guide you to the car park, or appropriate camping area. Please follow their directions, observe the site speed limit of 5mph, and be aware that pedestrians may also be using the same tracks around the site.
There is a lot of tent camping space, and there are separate areas for quiet camping (‘Larks’), small vans, and large vans. Please follow the directions from the Parking and Camping stewards to make sure you get where you need to be safely.
There are a few wheelbarrows provided for transporting camping equipment from your car to your campsite. The stewards will advise on this.
If you have any questions or require any assistance, please just ask any of the stewards! We’re all here to help you have fantastic festival!
Can I bring my lovely, well-behaved dog?
Sadly no, it’s a pet-free site, so no dogs or other pets.
Are you looking for stewards?
Yes we are looking for a small band of reliable volunteers to help steward the festival. We’re mostly asking people we know, as previous experience on other festivals has taught us that people can be flaky. If you can convince us you’re not going to be flaky, drop us a line at info@cumberlandia.co.uk.
Is the site accessible for someone with a disability?
We welcome people with disabilities to the festival, although the site is outdoors, and access to some parts of the site involve ascent over rough terrain which would be difficult to negotiate in a wheelchair. The path between the hardstanding area (where the traders are)and the Glade Stage is especially tricky as it is soil based, and has tree roots to push over. There is no wheelchair access between the Shack and the Glade Stage at the moment though this may change before the festival, and a hardcore path laid. There is also a plan to put a ramp into the Shack so it becomes accessible. If you require attendant care, your carer can accompany you for free. You will need to email us in advance at info@cumberlandia.co.uk if you require a carers ticket. There will be a limited number of disabled persons car parking spaces. Please let us know in advance if you will need one. We are working to provide a viewing area in the Glade Stage for people with physical disabilities who can access this area. Again, please let us know if you need a space there.
When does the site open?
13:00 on Friday 25th July.
Who’s playing when?
The schedule can be found from the link on the home page. Most performances are on the Friday evening and Saturday, with Sunday a more chilled day with a final closing performance around lunchtime to round off the event.
Can I use a disposable barbecue or light a fire?
No, you can’t. We have two managed firepits that everyone is welcome at.
Can I bring my own food and drink?
You’re welcome to bring your own food, although we do have traders on site selling lovely food and drink as well. The BP garage also has a limited range of food and snacks.
The terms of our licence allow personal alcohol to be consumed on campsites but not in performance areas. Please don’t take your own alcohol out of the campsites. Bars selling alcohol at reasonable prices are available at all venues. Thank you for helping us comply with the terms of our licence.
How does festival waste get recycled?
The site owners Alwyn and Joanne Braniff have a contract with NW Recycling who recycle 97% of collected waste. Therefore there’s no need to separate waste on site, put everything into the waste bins provided and NW Recycling will sort it.
When do we need to be off-site
The event finishes at lunchtime on the Sunday, and you need to be off-site before 17:00.
Will there be a written programme of performers and workshops
Yes, you can find an online and a printable schedule with a map of the site and basic information about the festival from the links on the home page. A shiny printed full-colour souvenir programme will be on sale for £3 at the Information/Merch tent.
Will there be a bar?
Yes there will definitely be a bar in the Glade Stage area and most likely bars in the Marquee and Shack too selling the outrageously delicious locally brewed ale from Tractor Shed Brewing company as well as a range of alternative beverages and spirits!
