Willow Lantern Workshop
with Nanette Maden
Sat 2 - 4 pm, Village Hall
Help us create a magical feel at Cumberlandia this year by making some willow lanterns to form a communal artwork that we’ll use at the festival for years to come.
Artist Nanette Madan will lead a workshop guiding you through the different steps so that you can help to create the lanterns, depicting spirit of Cumberlandia and the magical setting of Rivendell, the beautiful site where our festival is held. Some lanterns have already been made at community workshops across West Cumbria in the run up to the festival, so you'll be adding to a true community effort.
The workshops are free and all materials and tools will be provided.
NB: you’ll be contributing to a communal artwork for Cumberlandia, rather than making your own individual lantern to take home.
These workshops are aimed at adults, accompanied children aged 8+ are also welcome.

This is a set of eight simple exercises which are non-strenuous, involving some simple tapping, cross lateral movements to get mind and body working in harmony, and some gentle stretches. The exercises help you to ground yourself, and to access fresh energy and release what is no longer needed. Katja teaches simple ways for people to improve their health using their own hands and bodies.
Festival Friends Meet-Up

It’s important to us that everyone feels welcome here and everyone is able to get as involved as they want to be. Festival friends is a safe space to come and meet other Cumberlandians. Grab a drink en route and mooch in for a relaxed chat - we promise there’ll be no team-building exercises!
WILD PLAY
with
Sarah Lenehan
Sarah is a playworker and forest school practitioner, most at home in wild places. She loves to co-create spaces with the families she works with where everyone feels valued. She prioritises play, creativity and nature connection in her own family life and the spaces where she works. Sarah loves to discover creative ways to use and explore natural materials and is very interested in the power of story and imagination. She hopes for a future where everyone feels part of the natural world and recognises their power to make a difference.
At Cumberlandia Sarah will be providing nature-based creative activities for all, including pebble poetry and nature zines. She will also have a small nature table for exploring some nature treasures.
