Meet The Team: The (Angie) Power Behind The Throne

Name: Angie Power

Role:

Resources Manager & Green Room Manager & generally seeing when something needs doing and getting on with it, just like all the other volunteer helpers.

How did you get involved?

Being married to Dave Camlin means I get the chance to join in with loads of exciting musical events all year. Both of us were members of the Solfest Volunteer Committee for many years pre Covid and learnt so much from both our own areas and seeing firsthand how others dealt with other aspects of festival planning. So when Dave suggested putting on a weekend event at the gorgeous Rivendell site it seemed too good an opportunity to miss. Being part of the community of friends who work together to create Cumberlandia is fantastic. It fills my heart with all the good stuff

What were the highlights of 2024 or 2025 for you?

I love all the musical performances of course, and the visuals, and the dancing…and all our different spaces where festival goers can get involved and share their skills. Singing with Bitterbeck to welcome folk at the beginning of the festival and being part of the scratch choir is always exciting. Being part of the Spiral Dance at the end of Cumberlandia felt very special…and I love catching up with friends I’ve not seen for a while and meeting some new folk. I get such a buzz out of us all working together to make the festival happen and then seeing how people settle in with each other to create our temporary community. Being part of that community is my sparkliest highlight.

What are you looking forward to for 2026?

All of it! It’s too hard to single out one or two things.

Any top tips for this year's visitors?

Relax and have fun. Join in with as much or as little as feels comfortable for you. Take time to wander around the whole site and enjoy all the different venues, the nooks and crannies, the sights and sounds. The site evolves year on year. It’s a labour of love that Alwyn, Joanne & friends have spent years creating and they continue to add to it.

What should people absolutely not miss?

People should not miss being at Cumberlandia 2026 and being part of it. If you’ve not got your tickets yet get a move on…tickets are shifting fast. Cumberlandia is small and beautifully formed, with great heart and a great mix of performers.

One thing people should bring with them?

Personally, I need a whole van full of stuff ‘just in case’ when I go away so you’re asking the wrong person to identify just ONE thing…maybe don’t forget to pack your sense of fun.

Anything else you'd like to add?

Come and play with us at Rivendell. Bring warm layers for the evenings and your waterproofs, wellies or walking boots just in case…
