Spring Stirrings…
Sunday March 16th 2025
Kevin McTiernan, Cumberlandia Site Manager
Today a few of us from the Committee met with Joanne, one of the owners of ‘Rivendell’, the fabulous site for the Festival. It was a cool morning, but the sun made several welcome appearances.
It's the first time back to the site for most of us since the first festival in August last year. The site is just starting to spring alive with the fabulous weather we've had recently, and the extra light from lengthening days. The land was quiet, yet full of memories from Cumberlandia 2024 tugging at my awareness as we walked around. And I could also feel the stirrings of excitement as plans for 2025 were discussed.
We had a few logistical queries about plans we have for this year's Festival in July (25-27th). Plans for Site art, for Workshops, and a Busking Station, amongst other ideas and possibilities.
It was also a good opportunity to check-in on plans the owners have for the site this year. There will be more space for parking this year, which will particularly help with larger camper vans. But think gravel ‘parking’ rather than camping ‘pitch’.
But the big news from Joanne was their acquisition of a 3-tipi marquee. A large undercover space which will transform the central Festival site. It will also mean that the Festival is far less susceptible to disruption from bad weather. So exciting!
