Meet The Team: Sarah Spencer; The Woman In Charge

Sarah in the 2025 Festival Office

Name: Sarah Spencer

Role: Festival Manager

How did you get involved?

I was on the original committee for Solfest and worked alongside Dave Camlin and Angie Power for several years helping Solfest to grow and develop. I have volunteered at Cumberlandia for the last two years but I was keen to contribute further, so I was delighted to be asked to join the Committee this year and take over the role of Festival Manager.

What were the highlights of 2024 or 2025 for you?

Kathryn Tickell's performance in The Glade in 2024 was completely magical and has stayed in my mind ever since - the lights, the energy, the music, dancing with friends...what a great night!

Last year, having never heard of them before, I really enjoyed the energy of Re-vulva.The opportunity to discover new bands that you might not have specifically bought a ticket for is the real joy of festivals. Tim Elvin's Mosstrooper speech about what it means to be a 'Westie' was very moving and I've watched it back on YouTube a few times since.

What are you looking forward to for 2026?

Catching up with old friends, particularly the people that I only get round to seeing at festivals.. but mainly I'm looking forward to Merry Hell on Friday night! I am so excited that they are coming to Cumberlandia. It;s going to be a great night of dancing and energy.

Any top tips for this year's visitors?

Make sure you book Friday off work  (and probably Monday!) and get to the festival nice and early. The music starts at 4pm so you don't want to be messing about pitching your tent when you could be enjoying the opening ceremony and immersing yourself in Cumberlandia 2026.

What should people absolutely not miss?

You absolutely must make sure you're in The Glade on Sunday for The Mosstroopers. It's compulsory

One thing people should bring with them?

Remember that lovely Cumberlandia pint glass you bought last year? Remember to pack it!

If this is your first year ar Cumberlandia remember to bring some money to buy a lovely Cumberlandia pint glass.
